MakeCareFair.com.au is a campaign initiated by sphinxx, a social enterprise committed to the advancement of women as leaders.  sphinxx Founder and The SheEO, Jen Dalitz, has been working with women and employers of women for the past five years with the vision of seeing women equally represented in leadership roles, in our workplaces and communities.

The cost and availability of quality childcare incurred by parents in the pursuit of earning taxable income continues to be a significant structural barrier to career advancement of working parents – and mums in particular - and is having a cumulative and enduring impact on the talent pool and leadership pipeline for employers.

This campaign, launched on the centenary of International Women’s Day, hopes to reignite the debate on the cost and affordability of child care for working parents.  The goal of the campaign is legitimize the cost of childcare for working parents by enabling the full costs of care to claimable as a deduction against taxable income.

“Changing this legislation will see an improvement in women in leadership positions in the work place. It will improve equality in every aspect.” - Alexandra

“I am 100% in support of this issue. Not only do I see this from a business point of view but also from a parental view. By making in-home childcare tax deductable you are opening up more opportunities for women to return to the work force. It reduces the stress placed on childcare centres and the stress placed on parents on waiting lists. It also allows parents to have the choice to keep their children at home with one-on-one care and this is especially beneficial for children with special needs, allergies or medical conditions.” - Beth

“Given women in the workplace bring unique skillsets & balance to the office, factory, wherever, they should not be penalised finanacially by their attendance. Support through taxation is long overdue.” - Jennifer
